Transforming How Foodies Connect:

'Flavor Feed' is a social media platform designed to redefine the way we connect through our shared love of food. As a member of the Georgia Tech iOS Club, I handled the UI & UX design and research for this project. 'Flavor Feed' encourages users to share their culinary experiences through photos and videos, along with insightful information about their meals, recipes, and dining locations. The app is currently under development and will be released on the Apple App Store soon. It leverages Apple's SwiftUI framework to offer a user-friendly experience for iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS users.

'Flavor Feed' was awarded the 'Best App Award' at the Fall 2023 Demo Day, sponsored by the Georgia Tech College of Computing. As recognition of our efforts, my team members were gifted several Apple products!

Lack of Dedicated Food-Sharing Space:

Users face the challenge of finding a user-friendly and authentic platform to share their eating and cooking experiences and connect with fellow food enthusiasts. They are frustrated with the lack of dedicated food-sharing spaces on existing social media apps, which often include a lot of visual noise and unnecessary image editing features. This dilutes the genuine food-sharing experience, leaving users hungry for a better solution.

Sugar, Spice & Everything Yummy:

'Flavor Feed' caters to users who want a platform dedicated to food, a safe haven where they can share photos and videos related to their food adventures and daily diets. It promotes regular engagement with personalised dietary habit-based scheduling, fosters connections with friends and other like-minded foodies, and provides a recipe repository for an enriched food-sharing experience. Flavor Feed aims to transform the way people connect through food by employing the following design strategies:

Easy Login and Signup Process:

Users can quickly get started by providing basic information - their name, email ID, and creating a unique username and password. This simple process ensures that new users can join the Flavor Feed community in no time.

A Flavorful Feed:

Organized into 'Friends' and 'Discover' sections, the homepage feed not only enables users to explore what their friends are eating but also discover public posts from food enthusiasts worldwide. Each post provides basic information about the poster and details about the meal, including the dining location (restaurant, cafe, bar, or pub), the dish's recipe, and other users' comments and reactions. Users can add captions to their posts from the homepage. They can also change their feed view from stacked to titled. A tag at the bottom of the screen also informs them of the number of pictures/videos they have left to post that day.

No Filters, Only Authenticity:

Flavor Feed's camera functionality mirrors BeReal's approach, allowing users to capture their culinary experiences authentically. When taking photos or videos, the app automatically captures both back and front camera shots. Users can toggle basic features like flash, zoom, and camera flipping. The non-existence of image editing options and filters encourages users to share their real, untampered food experiences.

Culinary Profiles and Memory Curation:

Each user has a personal profile where they can manage and showcase their own food-related content. They can pin up to three favorite posts, control visibility settings, and access a calendar view of past posts, recipes, and dining locations. Additionally, when visiting other users' profiles, they can view mutual friends and explore content based on visibility settings.

Stay Connected With Other Foodies:

Users can easily access the friend suggestions section, which provides recommendations based on the number of mutual friends. They can also respond to friend requests from others and effortlessly add friends from their contact lists. This feature encourages a sense of community and fosters connections within the app.

Add Recipes & Manage Your Profile:

Low-fidelity Prototyping:

Logo Design:

Attractive Design, Improved Accessibility:

Color Palette:

The chosen colors - light red, Brunswick green, jasmine, grey, and white - create an engaging and exciting visual experience while also being associated with food, health, and nutrition.

Light and Dark Modes:

I have designed both light and dark modes to enhance accessibility and cater to various user preferences.

SwiftUI for Seamless Experience:

The development phase is well underway, with a dedicated team of front-end and back-end developers working together to bring Flavor Feed to life. Utilizing SwiftUI, we aim to ensure a smooth and seamless user experience, integrating the features and design concepts outlined in our project ideation phase.

Reshaping Global Food Community:

Flavor Feed has the potential to revolutionize social interactions around food. By focusing on authenticity, regular engagement, and user-friendliness, we aim to create a thriving community of food enthusiasts, chefs, and recipe aficionados. The app will provide users with a unique space to share their culinary adventures and connect with like-minded individuals worldwide.

Genuine Content = Healthier Engagement:

Authenticity Matters:

Flavor Feed's commitment to authenticity in food sharing sets it apart from other platforms.

Engaging User Interface:

The intuitive and visually appealing UI/UX design encourages users to explore and interact with the app effortlessly and stay connected with others through food.

Diverse User Base:

Flavor Feed is designed for everyone, from foodies to health-conscious eaters, creating a vibrant and inclusive community.

Scheduling and Prompting:

Unlike BeReal, the app's scheduling system can be customised to suit the user's personal and unique dietary timetable, encouraging them to eat on time and avoid skipping meals unintentionally.

Accessible Design:

Light and dark modes cater to diverse user preferences and improve accessibility.

As Flavor Feed progresses toward its release, we are excited to see how it transforms the way people connect, share, and celebrate their love for food. This project represents a successful collaboration between designers and developers at the Georgia Tech iOS Club, emphasizing the importance of user-centric design principles, design facilitation and collaboration.

Coming soon to the App Store!
